Picnic Decorating

I'm busy putting together articles, recipes and photos for an Australia Day picnic spread, and was thinking about the best way to dress up a picnic spot. Often when you head out to parks and picnic spots you will see balloons tied to shelters and trees, and these always look pretty and festive. Unfortunately, bits of burst latex balloon and their trailing ribbons are something of an environmental hazard. Noboby means for our furry, feathered or down-right ugly, wildlife to ingest, or get tangled, in a balloon - but sometimes our party decorations manage to break free and make off into the wild, where they do just that.

A fabulous, old-fashioned, option is to use fabric bunting.

Bunting is a length of small flags, or pendants, that can be strung on just about anything. They look terrific and dress up any location. It can also be used over and over, making it economical in the long-term.

Wally the wombat might just appreciate it, as well.
