Keeping Sticky Fingers Clean

Many years ago (pre-mummy days), I had a few occasions flying in the pointy end of the plane. One of the benefits that came with all that extra attention, were the cool, lightly scented, wet hand towels that were distributed before take-off, after meals, and before landing. Such a small thing... a quick, easy way to clean and freshen up.

Liking the small touches of luxury, I could see no reason to replicate that little indulgence... even on a picnic!

My mother just rolled her eyes - thinking I was being so over the top - when I turned up on our recent party picnic with these, but she was the first to admit that after lunch on a hot, sticky day, a cool, damp, cotton washer was total bliss!

This is so very easy to do, and takes only minutes to prepare....

I found a stack of 12 cotton wash cloths at Abode for $12.00.

Wet them in all thoroughly in a sink of cold water. I added some lemon juice for a nice citrus scent... or you could try a few drops of essential oil.

Squeeze most of the water out... then roll each cloth up.

Lay them in a flat plastic container, and tuck into the bottom of the esky, or chill in the fridge.

Voila... present these to everyone after picnic finger food, or just to cool down.

They also come in very useful at kid's parties... in which case you might like to use colouful cloths rather than white.

Have a stack on hand if you are having a bbq, or serving the sort of seafood that requires the hands-on approach.
